In Lifecycles students will explore how a variety of different animals, grow, develop and produce offspring. Students will consider their own lifecycle before going on to compare the lifecycles of a variety of different animals. Using costumes and role play students will create and act out a butterfly lifecycle, before being led on a tour of our butterfly house where your students will have the chance to reinforce their learning by searching for the real life stages of a butterfly lifecycle.

Intended learning outcomes:

Pupils will be able to:

  • select pictures in the appropriate order to build the lifecycles for humans, frogs and butterflies using materials provided
  • act out the stage of a butterfly lifecycle
  • work as a group to organise images of different animals into the correct lifecycle sequence
