Christmas craft workshops in Bedfordshire
Our Christmas craft sessions are now sold out for 2023.
Calling all craft enthusiasts and Christmas fanatics! Whether you’re looking to build a wreath to adorn your door for the carollers to admire, or you’re in need of a new ornament for your tree, look no further. You’ll find a workshop to suit you at Whipsnade Zoo, near Hertfordshire, this festive season.
Wreath making workshops at Whipsnade Zoo
Get in the Christmas spirit and craft your own homemade wreath to take home. As part of the session, you'll hear from animal keepers about our festive animal enrichment at the Zoo. Each participant will also receive a delicious hot spiced apple drink and a mince pie to enjoy during the session.
You’ll start by creating the basic wreath shape, attaching bundles of pine to your base with wire. Then it’s time to add some red berries, pine cones and cinnamon sticks for decoration, filling in any gaps as you go. All materials are provided as part of the session.

Needle felting workshops this December
Learn how to create a Christmas robin sitting on a wooden cotton reel - the perfect homemade tree decoration or present. Plus, each participant will receive a warming spiced apple drink and a mince pie.
This is a short workshop suitable for adult beginners and experienced felters alike. In addition to making your robin, you will learn basic needle felting techniques so you can make many more little birds and other creatures.

This session is not suitable for children under 16 years of age.
Since felting involves use of sharp needles there can be a risk of injury - whilst we will mitigate this as much as we can, participation is ultimately at your own risk.
Important Information
- Zoo entry for the morning of your session date is included in the Adult (16+) ticket price.
- Members, Fellows and Patrons will be granted Zoo entry on arrival simply by showing their membership card.
- All other visitors in your party, including Under 3s and any non-members without Adult (16+) workshop tickets, will need a valid Zoo ticket to enter the Zoo.
- These workshops are not suitable for children under 16 years of age.
- Zoo admission T&Cs apply.

Does my workshop ticket include Zoo entry?
Zoo entry for the morning of your session date is included in the Adult (16+) ticket price.
Visitors who purchase a Member, Fellow or Patron Adult (16+) ticket, will be required to show their ZSL Membership/Fellow/Patron card at the entrance on the day in order to enter the Zoo.
Please note: Any visitors with a Member, Fellow or Patron Adult (16+) ticket who cannot show a valid card will be required to purchase a full priced admission ticket on the day in order to enter the Zoo for the experience.
How long will the workshops last?
Sessions last 3 hours, from 2pm til 5pm.
Who can purchase the Member, Fellow or Patron Adult (16+) tickets?
Any silver or gold member, fellow or patron can purchase a Member, Fellow or Patron Adult (16+) ticket for either workshop. You will need to display your ZSL Membership/Fellow/Patron card at the entrance on the day in order to enter the Zoo.
Any visitors with a Member, Fellow or Patron Adult (16+) ticket who cannot show a valid card will be required to purchase a full priced admission ticket on the day in order to enter the Zoo for the experience.
