Throughout June, we're celebrating PRIDE month at Whipsnade Zoo with interactive storytelling and tours - we'd love for you to get involved:
PRIDE interactive story time sessions
Join us as we read a family-friendly story, Ace’s PRIDE Parade. Meet us under the orange canopy in the Learning hub, next to the Butterfly House and Aquarium on the following dates:
- 8 June - at 11:30am, 12:30pm and 2:30pm
- 9 June - at 11:30am, 12:30pm, and 2:30pm
Sessions are included in your Zoo entry or membership and are aimed at 4-12 year-olds.
Whipsnade Zoo LGBTQIA+ Tours
Queer Ecology Tour – Zoo Animals
This Pride month, join us while we explore the diversity of sexuality in the natural world. Learn about the history of Queer Ecology and some of the pioneering research being done in many different species including those who call Whipsnade home. Whilst we parade across the Zoo, we will also meet some of our queer individuals such as our fabulous flamingos.
- Thursday 6th June at 10.30am (as part of the Walk of the Week programme)
- Saturday 8th June at 11am
- Sunday 9th June at 11am
Queer Ecology Tour – Native Species
Queerness does not stop with our zoo animals! Take a closer look at the queer ecology of trees and native species that have been hiding in plain sight.
- Saturday 8th June at 2 pm
- Sunday 9th June at 2 pm
- Thursday 4th July at 10.30am (as part of the Walk of the Week programme)
These tours will contain topics of sexuality, sex, and adult themes and are suitable for ages 18+.
All activities are included in your Zoo entry or membership.
