This year has seen above-average rainfall in the UK, and the recent wet weather has made the conditions at Whipsnade Zoo very challenging - especially with Easter being earlier than usual.

Our car park has been impacted by the heavy rain, and parts of it are not usable because the few sunny spells haven’t lasted long enough to allow it to dry out. In the last week we have had to tow several cars out of the mud, forcing us to keep reducing the parking area.

This has meant some queues and delays accessing the zoo for visitors arriving by car.

There are ways to get to us without a car – you can catch the Zoo bus from Luton via Dunstable straight to Whipsnade – check the timetable here.

If you’re planning to visit in the coming days by car, please aim to arrive early and be aware our car park has been reaching capacity by late morning.

We’re updating social media and our website when our car park starts nearing capacity each day, so check there before you travel.

Whipsnade Zoo itself is also very muddy in places, so we recommend wellies for anyone planning to visit! For top tips on making the most of your visit to us, check out our rainy day guide.

If you have pre-booked ticket and would like to visit us another time instead, you can rebook for a different date of your choice using our online customer service portal.

If you are a member, patron or fellow you do not need to book in advance.

Our team is working hard in some challenging conditions, so we thank you for your patience, understanding and kindness.
