Zookeepers at Whipsnade Zoo have treated greater one-horned rhino mum, Behan, to an extra special treat ahead of Mother’s Day this Sunday.
With the one-tonne rhino not a fan of chocolates or flowers, zookeepers at the UK’s largest zoo helped one-year-old calf Zhiwa to present her mum with a delicious feast of cabbages, carrots and hay in the shape of a bouquet.
Team leader, Mark Holden said; “Behan is a very patient and caring mum, so she deserves to be spoiled this Mother’s Day. She was pretty impressed with her big pile of hay with some delicious veggies!”
Treat your mum this Mother's Day
ZSL Whipsnade Zoo’s shop is brimming with wonderful gifts for the mum in your life, but while the physical shop remains closed to the public the charity’s beautiful range of products are available to purchase online at shop.zsl.org
Holden added: “At this time of year we’d normally see our visitors stocking up on beautiful gifts in the shop, but even though the shop at the zoo is closed, you can still support us by shopping online – every sale helps to fund the care of our animals, and our global conservation work.”
ZSL’s online shop is the perfect place to buy your Mother’s Day gift this year. With gifts inspired by the animal kingdom, including homewares, long-lasting sustainable presents, animal adoptions and even vouchers for a great day out – all of which support ZSL - the conservation charity behind London and Whipsnade zoos and its work across the world. Order before 10 March to receive your gifts on Mother’s Day.
