Initial Teacher Training at ZSL

Upskilling new teachers!

We work with teacher training providers to empower those new to the profession to take pupils outside of the classroom and feel confident teaching in an informal environment. We also cover sustainability within an education setting, helping new teachers understand the government’s Sustainability and Climate Change Education strategy.

The training includes the use of current scientific research to explain the benefits of learning outside the classroom, workshops on the integration of informal learning into existing curricula and demonstrations of some of the techniques that ZSL uses to make nature-based learning engaging and meaningful. On-site participants will also get the opportunity to explore our beautiful site and the animals that live here to become comfortable bringing groups of pupils.

We understand that time is tight in your teacher training course so workshop logistics and timings can be flexible to suit your needs. We can do:

• Training workshops on-site, at ZSL London or Whipsnade Zoo
• Flexible, online training workshops to suit your schedule
